Primary care services, including dental practices, community pharmacies and optometrists, play a pivotal role in patient care. It is our role within the Talent and Leadership team to support the development of collaborative and compassionate leadership. This is set out in Our Leadership Way.
There are a range of resources for your consideration to support your leadership development
Two modules are for primary care leaders who find themselves leading in the context of transition and change. One focuses on balancing strategic with operational leadership needs and one on the challenge of finding a collective voice for primary care in the new system. They include links to practical tools and take aways. Take a look at the dedicated flyer here, which also has a link to the Leadership Learning Zone.
This site hosts a range of short learning solutions designed by experts for the development of NHS staff of all levels to work though at their own pace
For information on the evaluation of previous programmes commissioned and run by the leadership team please see the reports about the Primary Care Leadership Development programme and the Care Home Managers programme at Evaluation – East of England (leadershipacademy.nhs.uk)
Training Hubs
Training hubs provide the infrastructure for multi-professional training and education in primary care to support recruitment, retention and return of all staff groups. Training hubs bring together NHS organisations, community representatives, local authorities, and education providers to deliver a much broader education platform than the more traditional single approach.

Every Primary Care Network (PCN) will have access to training hub resources. Our local offices are best placed to implement initiatives that allow some variation in approach through a common operating model across England.
