Graduate Management Training Scheme (GMTS)

It’s the NHS leaders who have experienced the GMTS themselves who tell us the GMTS defines lives, and the next stage of their careers.

What is GMTS?

The GMTS is a two year non-clinical leadership development scheme for graduates with a minimum 2:2 degree in any subject. It’s 2½ years if you join our Finance specialism.

We’re looking for you to become one of the future health and social care leaders in the NHS. You’ll be unique, so will the experiences you’ll have across the EoE and the people you work with. As a GMTS Trainee, you will have three or four placements in one of the 7 regions in England, including one placement of your choice outside the NHS.

GMTS Trainees benefit from a comprehensive work and study support package including seven levels of support throughout your GMTS
journey. You will also study for a postgraduate diploma at university and a professional qualification to reflect your chosen specialism and skills.

What are the specialisms?

We will not only ensure you have a great learning experience whilst you are on the scheme, but we will also work with you to help you secure employment in the east of England as you graduate. You will be competing for early leadership roles in the NHS in the £40-£45,000 bracket initially. We are in contact with a large NHS graduate alum community, and we engage with our alumni as part of the EoE GMTS network through many networking events and forums.

Up to three of our organisations offer placements for you whilst you are on the scheme, so there is no shortage of opportunities and no better place to start your career in health and social care.

What do we need? You?

The outstanding results achieved by the NHS graduates highlight the Graduate Scheme’s high-quality learning and recognises their ability and commitment. The Graduate Scheme is open to both current NHS staff and those considering joining us. Whatever your background, you must share our commitment to creating a world-class health and social care service.

We accept, and encourage, applications from eligible NHS inservice staff with a minimum 2:2 degree or academic equivalent in any subject. Pay protection applies for eligible NHS in-service staff, check the website for details of how that works.
