Mentoring Skills Refresher – Masterclass

Mentoring Skills Refresher – Masterclass

For Mentors from MentorNet

These mentoring masterclasses are designed to refresh mentors on some of the core skills and competencies to being a great mentor. They are intended to complement the work of mentors offering services on mentor.net, through the reciprocal mentoring scheme and other programmes where a focus on mentoring skills is key.

With the best intention in the world, we can all get rusty and forget some of the tricks of the trade meaning that coming to a ‘timeout’ where you can safely play with your learnings and refresh the rusty bits simply makes good sense. Lesley will guide these experiential sessions drawing on her experience of mentoring across the public & charity sectors. She will share tips and tricks to getting the most out of your mentee whilst ensuring they walk away with the support, they were seeking from you as their mentor.

Aims & Learning objectives:

  • To (re)rehearse the skills and attitudes of being a mentor
  • To build your confidence in fulfilling the role
  • To provide you with a framework that will support you in being an effective mentor
  • To support the creation of quality mentorship relationships

We will explore in some detail:

  • The definition, purpose and positioning of the role of mentor
  • The Job Description of a mentor

We will further

  • Develop your mentoring skills
  • Work on understanding the expectations of mentor and mentee
  • Consider the mentoring journey

This masterclass will be hosted by Lesley Cave, an experienced and dedicated Professional Certificated Coach (PCC) with the ICF, a certificated coach supervisor, mentor coach and coach trainer.

Lesley is a Professionally Certificated Coach with the International Coach Federation. She works full time as a coach, coach supervisor, mentor coach and coach trainer. She has over 2500 hours of coaching experience in the public, private and charity sectors.

Lesley knows it can be counter intuitive to sign up to a ‘back to basics’ anything, yet it is often the essence of the very core of our activities that we overlook or need to brush up on. On that basis, Lesley will help you strip your coaching back to the basics for an interactive reminder about the key features of coaching. The workshop will aim to remind us of all of what really makes a difference when you work with a coaching client in transformational way.
