Coaching CPD: Exploring and Developing Solutions-Focused Coaching Approach Workshop 

Especially designed for Coaches & Mentors from CoachNet & MentorNet East of England. 

We are delighted to offer a 2.5 hour online workshop of coaching CPD; a unique opportunity to hone your coaching craft and also receive support on your continuing development as a coach.

The workshop will feature an introduction to a Solutions – Focused Approach to Coaching, a powerful and challenging addition to the skills set of any coach.

Coaching using a Solution-Focused perspective offers a refreshing, if challenging, addition to your skills and approach as a coach. Firstly, it works with rather startling assertions:

  • A detailed understanding of the “problem” is often of little help in identifying progress.
  • We are the stories we tell about ourselves, change the story – change the person
  • Small changes can have huge effects in a system, so it’s better to make small, realistic, humble, and therefore feasible steps.

So, what impact could this have on your practice, if you were to act as if these assertions were true?

We will:

  • Offer an understanding and initial practise in coaching using a Solutions – Focused approach

Specifically:

  • Consider the development of the “Solutions-Focused” approach to coaching

What makes this approach so powerfully different?

Introduce you to Solution-Focused Coaching:

  • The power of language and its application to finding solutions and progress
  • Looking for strengths and resources in the “capable” client
  • “Scaling” – how the use of 0 to 10 scale can be made a powerful tool

Releasing the power of the client’s imagination and capability.

  • Finding exceptions – helping clients realise where they are already achieving success
  • Small steps, and the “difference that makes the difference”

A chance to practise: 

  • A chance to consider how you might apply these ideas to your practice.

The programme will be facilitated by Jeff Matthews of The Madison Group. Based in the West Midlands, Jeff has over 30 years experience as a coach and facilitator, qualified as both coach and coaching supervisor, with EMCC and APECS. His preferred style of working is one that builds on the strengths and resources that individuals bring. His own development has been strongly influenced by Solutions Focused methodologies, positive psychology as well as training as psychotherapist, using Transactional Analysis. His first degree was Management Science.

He has his own, successful executive coaching practise, working across all types of UK and European institutions. He has particular experience of the NHS here in the East of England as well as West Midlands and South West England, where he is currently working with a Trust to develop their coaching capability.
